FAQ

The Answers You Need

how often can it be given

Hay fever injections can be given once or twice a year. Most people only need one injection to last the whole season.

How long is the season?

Tree pollen starts in early March and runs to about May. Flower and seed pollen starts in May and lasts until September. Not everyone is affected by all pollens so your season may be March to June while someone else finds June to September the worst time. By targeting the correct season for you the results will be better.

How is the injection given?

The injection is a deep muscle injection usually given into the top of your gluteal muscle (bottom) and is relatively painless. This then releases the medication slowly to give you cover for up to three months.

Is there any down time?

This injection is usually well tolerated and you can go straight back to work. There are few side effects but as with any medication some can be expected such as headache and nausea.

FAQ Vitamins

What is vitamin B12?

We need this to make red blood cells and our DNA as well as the function and development of nerve and brain cells.

What happens when levels are low?

Common problems like tiredness, breathlessness, headaches,  constipation, numbness or tingling and muscle weakness as well as memory loss and depression.

Why do levels fall?

Vitamin B12 is absorbed more easily into the body through direct access rather than through the gut during food intake. As we age it is not so easily absorbed and women are at more risk after the menopause of not absorbing it. Other things like alcohol intake and a diet with less liver, kidneys, fish, eggs and fortified cereals have an effect as well.

How often do I need an injection?

Vitamin B12 is given as an injection into a muscle and usually once a month.
